The Need for Pre Marriage Counseling

Pre marriage counseling is a form of counseling given to a couple before they exchange vows. Many couples rush into marriage and think that love is all they need to have a happy wedded life together. However, when reality sets in, they realize that they are ill-equipped to cope with and handle the stressful situations that slowly creep in. this is why many marriages fall apart and end in divorce in the first few years. It is a way to prepare couples for a secure marriage.

It is often thought that this type of counseling is that it is merely a session where couples are told what and what not to do when they are married. This is true to a certain extent. However, the main goal is to help the couples understand what a real marriage is all about, what to expect and how to confront and resolve the conflicts that are sure to come their way.

When couples are counseled, it opens up both individual minds. Many couples are naive and believe that their marriage will last with the help of their strong love. They do not really get the real idea of a marriage and when they are counseled, they are made to understand this and realize the reality of what to expect in married life.

Couples who are counseled before marriage are more united in their minds. They are taught to understand each other completely during this period. Many trials that are to come may cause them to drift apart but pre marriage counseling prepares them for these trials and helps them be more united in their thoughts, thus becoming stronger as a couple.

A marriage is full of ups and downs. Counselors help couples understand this. They prepare them with ways to handle stressful situations as a couple. Strengthening the bond of the couple is important here. This will make them see that they will be able to handle any situation and resolve any issues as husband and wife. They are made to see that they are a unit and both parties need to work together as a team in every situation.

The counseling before marriage teaches a couple to trust each other and to be open and honest with each other. It will help them to identify and communicate their fears, desires, beliefs, values and needs, making it easier for them to have a healthy and happy married life.

  1. Most partners take more money planning their marriages than preparing for their marriages. And, most marriages end in divorce! Doesn't it appear sensible to get ready yourselves as best you can for the most important human relationship you will ever have?

A powerful wedding confidently impacts each person's pleasure, health and emotional well-being. A powerful wedding is also the foundation of powerful families and healthy areas. A vital step in building a powerful wedding is to get ready for it by doing a top quality premarital program.
